What is parcel girth?
The girth of a parcel is its thickness or circumference. It refers to the total length of the width and height combined. Use the diagram above to work out which dimensions you need to measure. The length of your parcel is always its longest side.
Parcel girth is the figure used to determine whether a courier or shipping service will be able to handle and deliver your parcel, as many have a maximum length and girth limit for certain shipping services.

Calculating parcel girth
Working out the girth of your parcel is simple. Follow the instructions below, or alternatively enter the dimensions of your parcel into PACK & SEND’s parcel girth calculator:
Measure the width and height of your parcel or crate in centimetres or meters
Add the two figures together and multiply the total by 2 to calculate the girth
Measure the length of the package
Add that figure together with the girth to get the ‘length + girth’ total
The formula to calculate parcel girth should look something like this: (width + height) x 2 (+ the length to get the ‘length + girth).
