Get a quoteWhen shipping goods to Denmark, there are two sets of customs regulations to bear in mind – Denmark’s shipping regulations and those imposed by the EU. Shipping from the UK has become slightly more challenging post-Brexit because of the additional red tape associated with the change.
In addition to extra checks, tariffs and regulations, parcels entering Europe from the UK are subjected to extra customs and duty fees charged to the recipient.
Find out how Brexit affects your shipping plans and costs on our dedicated page. At PACK & SEND, we’ll even sit down with you to talk through the best options for your package.
UK-based senders must complete a commercial invoice to ship any products internationally. This is to help Customs Officials identify whether imported items should be subject to duty fees, and if so, how much they need to charge.
Items like personal effects and gifts are exempt from customs charges – provided they’re in line with Denmark’s import regulations. However, for commercial items valued over DKK 80, the receiver will have to pay VAT, and for those over DKK 1,150, they’ll have to pay customs charges, too.
Make sure to qualify for Customs Duty and VAT-free allowances by following government guidelines.

get a quoteEvery country has its own unique import regulations. If you attempt to import items to Denmark that don’t meet these guidelines, your parcel may be returned to you at a cost or even destroyed at the border.
So, it’s important to understand what can be imported, in what quantities and what is restricted. For more information on which items are prohibited and restricted, check out the Danish government’s dedicated website.
For example, restrictions include weight limits on milk powder and baby food of up to 2kg, while importing fireworks requires a specialised permit. Items like narcotics or any substances used to make illegal drugs are completely banned alongside counterfeit goods, like money.
Get a quoteIt should be known that each country has a unique address format. So, make sure to avoid mistakes when mailing to Denmark.
When shipping to Denmark, the receiver’s name and title should appear in the first line. The street address should be written on the second line, with the number following the street name. Any extra information, like building or company names, should be written after the street address.
The third line is for the postal code and the city name.
For example:
Malthe Christensen
Lundsgade 15
1682 Copenhagen
DENMARK
Rounding off the address with the destination country can help avoid delays and any confusion.
