Launching the London Sculpture Prize: A Global Stage for Contemporary Sculpture, Partnered with PACK & SEND

Wednesday, 07 January 2026

London Sculpture Prize

The world of contemporary sculpture has found a vibrant new platform with the launch of The London Sculpture Prize (LSP). Founded by renowned sculptor Isabel H Langtry, Principal of the historic Hampstead School of Art (HSA)—a charity with a 75-year legacy of fostering creativity—the LSP is set to become a major international event.

“Hampstead School of Art has a long history of creativity and encouraging the creative side of humanity,” says Isabel Langtry. It was her experience judging the Wallenberg Sculpture Prize in Australia in 2024 that inspired her to create a similar, globally focused opportunity right here in London.

The response to the inaugural London Sculpture Prize was “phenomenally popular,” attracting submissions from around the globe, including Vietnam, Australia, Canada, Italy, and Spain.

Creating Global Opportunity

The core mission of the LSP is to promote international contemporary sculpture. By selecting 20 plinth-based sculptures from an open call, the prize brings a diverse range of “sculptural traditions and personal expressions under one roof.” Judges, themselves international sculpture specialists, focus particularly on the artist’s use of process and material.

The selected works will be exhibited over three days at the beautiful Rothschild Gallery, Gunnersbury Museum, London.

A Specialist Partnership: The Critical Role of PACK & SEND

An international prize showcasing physical art comes with a unique logistical challenge. As Langtry notes, many submissions are delicate, specialist items—up to 25kg and crafted from materials like perspex, stone, and wood—requiring “special shipping” to travel safely to London for exhibition.

This is where the partnership with PACK & SEND becomes vital.

Isabel Langtry explains that she has a long-standing relationship with the company, having trusted them to pack her own sculptures and send them “around the world” beautifully. “I have great faith in PACK & SEND,” she affirms.

The partnership with PACK & SEND is designed to directly assist international sculptors, creating a true opportunity by ensuring their delicate work arrives securely and on time—a crucial detail, as otherwise, the work “will not be exhibited.”

Langtry was particularly impressed by the company’s dedication:

“What really impressed me about PACK & SEND was that it was the level of care. When the boss is directly involved in the actual manufacture side of things, you know, that’s got to be love.”

For artists, this partnership includes a specially negotiated shipping rate, ensuring affordability, and a £1,000 partner prize contributed by PACK & SEND, adding to the main £5,000 First Prize.

With PACK & SEND To Success

The exhibition was also a proud moment for our local experts. The PACK & SEND Hammersmith team had the pleasure of meeting with the winner of the prestigious £5,000 first prize, Marco.

In a wonderful coincidence, it was the Hammersmith team who assisted with the complex import of Marco’s winning sculpture to the event, ensuring it arrived in pristine condition for the judges. Alex and Kholbie were delighted to capture the moment with a photograph alongside Marco to celebrate his incredible achievement and the successful journey of his artwork.
