PACK & SEND ships laboratory to Boston

Reading, England, April 2011 – PACK & SEND; the specialist packers and shippers of items that are fragile, large, awkward or valuable have undertaken their largest challenge yet since opening in the UK in 2009.

Their Reading store recently completed the move of a full laboratory from Abingdon to Boston.

The PACK & SEND team in Reading were quick to respond to the call from the US companies Chief Executive and visited the site in Abingdon within 24 hours to assess the packing requirements for the highly sensitive and valuable laboratory equipment.

As the site was a secure MOD site the whole job had to be completed within 72 hours and it was PACK & SEND’s expert packaging knowledge coupled with their extensive range of international shipping options that enabled them to provide a detailed scope of works to the US business quickly and efficiently.

Having been given the go ahead to undertake the job PACK & SEND sent their team of expert packers to prepare the shipment. The sensitive and delicate equipment was placed in custom made crates which were injected with their unique foam cushioning product to provide protection whilst in transit.

Their broad range of sea freight services meant that they were able to have the entire shipment loaded within the sea container within the prescribed three days and all the customs and consignment documentation complete. The container was delivered to the UK port and loaded onto the vessel for the sea freight service to Boston.

The shipment was soon on its way to Boston on PACK & SEND’s international sea freight service and upon arrival in Boston PACK & SEND organised for customs clearance and onward delivery to the Boston site where they unloaded and unpacked the items for installation into the US site.

The entire shipment was valued at just over £1,000,000 and PACK & SEND were able to provide cover against loss or damage to the goods during the sea freight shipment on their Marine Transit Policy.

Needless to say the shipment arrived on time and intact.
